I was born and brought up at Torreon, Mexico and graduated from FCA, started my career in YMCA Torren on June 26 1986 as a as a Swim Lessons Instructor. In 1997, relocated to Tijuana, Mexico, as Director of the Casa YMCA. I moved to East Valley Family YMCA in 2001 as a Lifeguard before being named Associate Program Director of Aquatics and Aquatics Director. In 2008 I assumed responsibility for the branch's Group Exercise program and at present as the Aquatics Director for East Valley Family YMCA.
I had my eyes set on teaching group exercise class in Aquatics and Gravity, took all their required certification classes. It gave me an opportunity to able to work with different age groups and various levels. My very first exposure to Zumba was in an infomercial! Little did I know that watching this infomercial would make big change to my life! That motivated me to check the Zumba website. It was 2007 when I signed up for an instructor training in Campbell, California where I was trained by 'Beto Perez', Creator/Founder and 'Father of Zumba'. The experience lit a fire in me and started teaching Zumba in 2008 at East Valley Family YMCA, Kids Zumba for the YMCA after school programs and in Norcal Dance Studio, San Jose.
I also earned my Aqua Zumba certification, I offered to teach Aqua Zumba at YMCA. I started teaching few classes a week and that quickly escalated to more and more classes a week with more members liking Zumba and my style. Considering that Zumba is a relatively new dance form, members were impressive. I love sharing my passion with my students, many of whom have been inspired to become Zumba instructors themselves.
I also recieved my other Zumba speciality certifications in Toning, Gold, and Zumbatomic. I had an opportunity to teach seniors at Villages Comunity in San Jose, and also started teaching Zumba in the evening and weekends at 24 hour fitness in San Jose & Milpitas, Silver Creek Valley Country Club and Clubone, Santa Clara.
Zumba is all about music and dance inspired rhythms. Although it's primarily a fitness program, it allows me to create easy to follow choreography for Zumba classes, and deliver it with grace, style, and musicality that my participants love the most. I also invest time and effort to help you learn the steps as well as teaching you the proper and safe ways of doing those steps. My class participants are highly energized and engaged, and I keep them stimulated by frequent introduction of new songs as well as choreography variations.
Come try a class and experience how much fun Zumba can be. All fitness levels are welcome. What have you got to lose...except maybe a few pounds.
Thank you in advance for your trust, and I'm looking forward to seeing you in class.
